Dr Amber Halliday OLY started this with a few crazy ideas.
One, it is possible for happiness and performance to co-exist in sport ... and, believe it or not, one supports the other. The skills that lead to happiness, resilience and wellbeing are the same skills that lead to long-term performance in sport.
And two, sports psychology should start to address female athletes directly. Mental training for sport should speak to us, about issues relevant to us, in a voice that is our own.
Sport is an incredible platform to establish life long habits and practices that lead to physical health, professional/academic performance, and to psychological wellbeing. But too many athletes, female athletes in particular, miss out on these benefits.
Dr Amber Halliday OLY combines the experience and knowledge of her sporting career, recovery from trauma and a doctorate of psychology to form She Thrives In Sport - the first of its kind.
Aimed at women and girls beginning their elite sport pathway, and those around her, Amber offers online courses, one-on-one coaching, workshops and presentations.
